After a close opening round victory over Gainesville The Rock, Women's Basketball blew past Greenon, Ohio in the semifinals and capped a remarkable tournament run with a 61-33 drubbing of Concordia, Nebraska to win the 2009 Rock Holiday Classic. DP's stifling defensive pressure didn't allow many open shots for the visiting Mustangs, who were 21-2 in 2008 and entered the tournament with a 6-1 record. Tournament MVP Lexi Brown finished with 17 points and seven steals, Hannah Schaible closed with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Sydnei McCaskill finished with 14 points and nine assists. Stephanie Ratliff was a force under the basket and though it won't show up in the stat column, her presence was a major factor in limiting the Concordia inside game. Brown, Schaible and McCaskill were named to the All-Tournament team as the Panthers rolled to their 16th consecutive victory. They get a brief reprieve from the grind before traveling to Winter Park Tuesday night. That game will be a measuring stick for the top-ranked Panthers as the Wildcats are fresh off a big victory over highly-touted Lake Howell.
